New York covered Lake George with 700 mats; 97% of invasive clams died

In 2011, Lake George took significant action against its invasive Asian clam issue by implementing a large-scale benthic barrier treatment, which successfully eliminated ninety-seven percent of clams in a five-acre area. However, by 2019, these clams made a comeback, with twenty-seven sites identified. Consequently, efforts have shifted to monitoring their spread and impact on the ecosystem.
