2026 Cubs Heroes and Goats: David Peterson is the Superhero vs. the Braves

Sometimes Heroes and Goats doesn’t flow with the narrative of a game. This was a Pete Crow-Armstrong night. He had been in what amounts to a slump for him the last several games. Nothing extravagant, but when you have grown accustomed to him being one of the stars of every game, him being reduced to role player is striking. Even his first hit in this game, the two-run double, felt a little like he reached out his bat just trying to keep an at bat alive and got good wood on it, flipping it over f

Cubs 7, Braves 3: Pete Crow-Armstrong joins Billy Williams in Cubs history

Just when you think Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong has gone into a slump — and he was 0-for-8 with three strikeouts Saturday and Sunday — he breaks out of it in a big way. PCA was 4-for-5 Monday against the Braves at Wrigley Field, including his 37th stolen base and 42nd home run of the season. That home run tied him with Hall of Famer Billy Williams for the most by any left-handed hitter in Cubs franchise history. So congrats to Pete for that, good company to be in, and that offensive

Chicago Cubs news — Ramirez, Busch, Amaya

Today’s Reflections The Cubs lost another chance for a sweep this weekend, but emerged with a series win over the Pirates. The two games Saturday and Sunday both had the final scores of 4-3, but with different winners. There wasn’t a lot of opportunity for an offensive display by any Cub hitters, nor were there examples of great starting pitching. On the hitting side, the Cubs had a lot of chances to push a run across, but of the nine walks by Pittsburgh in the two games, only one Cub crossed th

Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves preview, Monday 9/14, 6:40 CT

Monday notes… EIGHT HUNDRED: The Cubs’ first run tonight will be their 800th of the season. This century, they also scored 808 in 2016, 814 in 2019, 822 in 2017 and 855 in 2008. Those 855 are the Cubs’ third most ever, behind 998 in 1930 and 982 in 1929. On The Horizon: Cubs vs. Braves series preview

The Cubs lost two of three to the Braves in Atlanta back in May, scoring only five runs in the series. That was so long ago that Pete Crow-Armstrong batted ninth, eighth and ninth in the three games and Moisés Ballesteros was the starting catcher in the series opener. Since that series ended the Cubs are 55-51 and the Braves 58-48, only three games apart. Now both teams are trying to nail down postseason positions, the Braves the NL East title and the Cubs the first wild card spot. For more on

Three up Alex Bregman continues his hot second half The Cubs third baseman batted .400/.520/.700 (8-for-20) over the six games with three doubles, a home run, three walks and only one strikeout.

2026 Cubs Heroes and Goats: Miguel Amaya is the Superhero vs. the Pirates

Hopefully, you are a Bears fan and had a lot of fun Sunday watching the team run up and down the field. As a Bears fan in Tampa, I wasn’t able to watch, but did enjoy some highlights and watching the score light up. As someone who feels like it wouldn’t be hyperbole to say I’ve seen years where some of the Cub scores this year would have been pretty good Bear scores, it was fun to see them put what I think of as a college football number on the board. But you don’t come here for my analysis of

MLB News: Willson Contreras, Mike Shirley resigns, Byron Buxton, Rafael Devers, Justin Verlander

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Some players might not be feeling so good this week, as they are seeing their seasons end early as the need for rest or surgery has forced them into an early offseason. As we’ll read below, both Byron Buxton and Rafael Devers are out for the remainder of their seasons due to injury. We’ve also recently seen superstar Shohei Ohtani hit the bench to hopefully recover so he can help the Dodgers in the postseason. This is not a general statement

Chicago Cubs history unpacked — September 14

Pirates 4, Cubs 3: Matthew Boyd deserved better

Cubs left-hander Matthew Boyd has to be the MLB King of Having His Inherited Runners Scoring. (For lack of a better term.) This has been happening frequently to Boyd — in fact, that makes three starts in a row where he left with the lead and runners on base and a Cubs reliever let those runners score and in two of the three, the Cubs thus coughed up the lead. That’s what happened Sunday at a rainy Wrigley Field that, for the first time, really felt like September. The Cubs and Boyd entered the s
